2011 ISSUE - CALL FOR PAPERS:
We are now accepting submissions for the journal! We are looking for undergraduate papers (including term papers that have already been submitted for grading) for submission to a new volume of the Undergrad Journal.
Topics can include religion, ancient history, modern politics, etc. Remember that NMC is a multi-disciplinary department, we will be considering papers that have been written for ANY class.
If you have a paper that you would like to see published, please email it to us. The papers will then be reviewed and edited by both a student panel and a faculty panel. If your paper is accepted it will be published in the journal at the end of this academic year. Please strongly consider submitting something, as publication of a paper is a very impressive on your resume or graduate school application! Please note that you do not have to be enrolled in a NMC subject POSt to submit a paper.
Paper Guidelines:
• Author must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree.
• All submissions must be written in English.
• Must be related to the study of Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations (includes anthropology, archaeology, art history, literature, economics, political science, religion/philosophy, comparitive issues, etc.)
• Must be unpublished.
• Must employ some primary sources.
• Must be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, and titled.
• Must be between 8 and 30 pages, not including endnotes.
Please submit all papers as e-mail attachments, along with an abstract of 100 words maximum, in Microsoft Word document format or RTF to nmcsu@utoronto.ca. Authors are asked to provide the following data in the e-mail: name, specialist/major/minor, year, and e-mail address.
2011 ISSUE - CALL FOR EDITORS:
Currently, the NMCSU is looking for five or six students to sit on the editorial review board for the journal. Once again, this type of work looks great on a resume and we encourage everyone to apply. It is also a good way to get to know other people in the department. The student panel will be responsible for reading papers that have been submitted and deciding which ones will be passed on to the faculty panel for further editing and review.
If you're interested, please email your resume and cover letter to us. Please note that you do not have to be enrolled in a NMC subject POSt to apply. If you are interested in the Editor-In-Chief position, please make a note of that in your email. |
